Teaching
Mat works in a selection of schools across Nottinghamshire as a woodwind and piano teacher and primary music curriculum teacher. In addition to this, Mat has extensive experience working with youth ensembles as a tutor/conductor currently on Music for Everyone's Bandwise project and previously as a tutor at Wirksworth Music Centre, running the beginner and intermediate concert bands, and on the Torkard Ensemble's Academy project in Hucknall. He also has experience of delivering whole class ensemble programmes through Nottingham Music Service, school singing (early years and choirs) and working with students with varying special educational needs. In 2018, Mat was appointed as Woodwind tutor and accompanist at the prestigious Welbeck Defense Sixth Form College until its closure in 2021. In 2021 he was appointed as Saxophone and Woodwind tutor at Loughborough University.

Alongside this, Mat also maintains a thriving private teaching portfolio. Lessons are tailored to the needs of the student whether aiming for exams or playing for fun. All aspects of technique will be covered from correct breathing and posture to technical accuracy and fluency. Lessons take place at Mat's home in the Calverton, Nottinghamshire.

Music theory can be taught as part of instrumental lessons, or as separate sessions which could be useful for GCSE and A Level support.
